Black Gold on Tour

by admin on September 8, 2009

Yesterday I was asked to give a mention to a relatively new band from Brooklyn, who are on tour in the UK promoting their new album “Rush”, which is an interesting play on words!

Obviously I not into just putting up a standard press release, I have to listen to their songs. On this occasion I have to say I was hooked within seconds, I am convinced they will go down well with the student crowd in Manchester, with their earthy quality inde feel.

The band will be playing at the Royal Northern College of Music on the 10th September 2009, supporting Neko Case  follow this link to book

I have a suspicion that we will be hearing more of this band in the UK in the coming months, particularly when they officially launch the Album “Rush” here in the UK at the beginning of October.

So to get a feeler I have embedded the video below.

Black Gold – Announce Album/Single/Tour

Single: ‘Breakdown’ September 28th

Album: ‘Rush’ October 5th

Tour: 10 UK Dates w/ Neko Case

Spin Magazine“Breathlessly experimental, the Brooklyn duo will try any genre once – MOR (‘The Comedown’), MGMT falsetto funk (‘Breakdown’) and sweeping orchestral rock (‘Plans & Reveries’) – as long as it’s grafted to a dance beat and a big hook”

Big Shot“floating easily between beats and soaring above them”

URB.COM“shining, shimmering, and quite splendid”

Fresh from the vibrant, seedy Brooklyn underground, Black Gold, having recently shared the stage with Panic At The Disco, Scissor Sister and the Hold Steady, are set to return to the UK this September with 10 shows as special guests of Neko Case.

Lily Allen, will be in Manchester in November, by which time I am sure she would have sorted her insomnia.

I have to admit I am still trying to catch up with the various acts coming to Manchester, well it will teach me a lesson for letting it slip!
So as I cherry pick the new bands I have included the Ricky Gervais tour Science, which is a fairly open subject. How on earth can he [...]

Yes in Concert

I cannot believe I missed this announcement of Yes on tour in the UK, Yes just happen to be my favourite band alongside Simple Minds.
The line up is without Jon Anderson on vocals, which given his health problems and the reason for the previous cancellation of the tour, it is not surprising. His role has [...]

Well I know I am showing my age now, but what the hell they were great at the time when you just become a teenage and find girls interesting and many of us will remember “I am in the mood for dancing” probably their biggest hit.
So having been out of the limelight for so many [...]

It seems as though Britain’s Got Talent after all, so far we are through the first two semi finals, but you have to admit it makes compulsive viewing.
I was pleased to see Susan Boyle get through of course, although the second day I have to admit I was disappointed not to see Gareth Oliver not make [...]
