The Saw Doctors a Irish folk-rock band from County Galway, arrive in Manchester in December who take their name from craftsmen who once travelled from sawmill to sawmill sharpening and repairing saws.

The Saw Doctors have a keen following in Ireland and they hold the record for Ireland’s biggest-selling single of all time, “I Useta Lover, in 1990 the video of which is below.

As Irony would have it after recording “To win just once” band member Tony Lambert won the lottery close to 1 million Euro, and decided to leave the band, well do you blame him.

The band have a superb mix of music style, not afraid to poke fun at society.

The will be at the Manchester Apollo on December the 11th and tickets are available from here.

The bespectacled Scottish close harmony folk duo who 22 years ago released their first album ‘This Is The Story’. Strikingly individual, twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid have over the years enjoyed huge successes across the globe and are out promoting their latest album ‘Notes & Rhymes’.

I am sure also they will be playing their now legendary song classic anthem ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ as part of their mix of pop, folk, new wave and a touch of punk to give a unique twist.

The video below will give you the best feel of their style I am sure I mean what a title “Lulu selling Tea”, mind you its a little dated but enjoyable still.

You can see them at the Manchester Apollo on Saturday 10th October 2009 – 7.30pm and tickets are available from here.

The musical partnership was not only one of the most successful touring and recording acts of the late ’60s, ’70s, and early ’80s, with the colourful, contrasting nature of the members’ characters and their connection to the political and cultural upheavals of the time. It was the only American-based band to approach the overall societal impact of the Beatles.

The group was a second marriage for all the participants when it came together in 1968: Crosby had been a member of the Byrds, Nash was in the Hollies, and Stills had been part of Buffalo Springfield. The resulting trio, however, sounded like none of its predecessors and was characterized by a unique vocal blend and a musical approach that ranged from acoustic folk to melodic pop to hard rock

So with that back drop it will be fasinating to watch their proformance in Manchester at the MEN Arena on the Friday 10th July 2009 – 7.30pm and tickets are available from here.
